The Parc Floral de Haute-Bretagne in Brittany, France features a number of beautiful gardens covering several hectares around an elegant château.

They include a traditional walled garden, a bamboo grove, a camellia maze and - perhaps most beautiful of all - Le Jardin du Soleil Levant, the garden of the rising sun. The section takes its inspiration from three concepts found in Japanese gardens:

An expression of the universe, reproduced in miniature form.
The zen garden, without the distraction of water or flowers to allow one to focus on quiet contemplation.
The ritual garden, derived from the tea ceremony.

The photographs in this calendar - the first in a series - concentrate on the plants from all sections of the Parc Floral.
